Greece has a large number of islands, up to 6000 (!), depending on what is the smallest size of the land we consider an island and inhabitable islands are around 200. In this sense Greece is a unique country for island hopping, because anyone can find an island that will touch their inner strings of soul. We thoroughly planned the following routes, to give you the best islands of Saronic sea and Cyclades.

Argo-Saronic Islands

Best Times: year around.

These islands are located right off the mainland, very close to Athens. The most popular islands of the group are Aegina, Poros, Hydra and Salamis. Many Greeks choose these islands for their vacation homes, because of their beauty and close proximity to Athens. Also, an important factor is that there are a lot of ferries that go from Piraeus and the Peloponnese.

Salamis, which is the largest island among Argo-Saronic Islands, is well known as the place where the ancient Greek fleet  defeated the Persians in the Battle of Salamis.

Best Times: May - October.

The most renowned island cluster of the Aegean Sea contains a number of the most stunning islands in the world! Beautiful sandy beaches, turquoise water, traditions, folk music. The fusion of ancient Greek history with modern lifestyle turns your trip into an unforgettable life experience.

The name “Cyclades” comes from the fact that islands form a circle (the name in English means: “circular islands”). In the middle of the circle lays the sacred island of Delos. According to myths, Poseidon, God of the sea, furious at the nymphs turned them into islands.
